Douglas ‘Doug’ Henderson
President
Doug was born and raised in Barre, Vermont. His family moved to San Diego, CA. in 1966 where after high school he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served with the 101st Airborne Div.  He graduated from the San Diego Police Academy in 1964 and served with that department until 1970 when he joined the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office.  He continued his education earning a BS in Administration of Justice and four additional AS degrees in law Enforcement related fields.  As a Sergeant he worked in Patrol, Traffic, Detectives and administrative positions.  After a thirty-five-year career he retired to a management position with a high-tech security manufacturer, worked as a mortgage loan officer and Casino Management.

Doug and Linda moved to Jefferson County in 2004, we have grand children in California.  Currently the Secretary/Treasurer of the Congress of Retired Police, Sheriff’s, ETC. and the President of the Jefferson County Sheriffs Foundation.

Dennis Cowan
Past President
Denis grew up in Western New York, served in the U.S. Army and worked for a variety of Companies such as Bell Aircraft and Litton Systems.  He eventually became a Deputy in the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department where he became a Detective, specializing in White Collar crime.  Later employed by the California Department of Justice managing an investigative team in Los Angeles and was later employed as a Corporate Auditor for a ‘Big Five’ accounting firm.  Retirement brought Dennis to Jefferson County where he became a volunteer for the Sheriff’s Department and 12 year member of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Foundation.
Don Johnson
Secretary
Don was born and raised in Portland, Oregon.  He graduated from high school and worked at various jobs including as a truck driver, warehouseman and welder.  He was married and moved to Port Townsend in 1969 and worked with the Port Townsend CZ papermill for 16 years.  Became a Jefferson County Sheriff’s Reserve Deputy in 1984 and hired on as a regular Deputy in 1985.  Worked as a Patrol Deputy, Search and Rescue Coordinator, Firearms Instructor and Department Armorer.  Retired from service in 2011 the volunteered as a LEOSA Firearms Rangemaster for several years.  Don is currently the Jefferson County Sheriffs Foundation Secretary.
Janet Mizuguchi
Treasurer/CFO
Janet was born in Santa Ana, California.  While attending California State University, Fullerton, she was hired by the University Police Department, where she worked in clerical, dispatch and parking control for 10 years.  Meanwhile earning a Bachelor of Art degree in Communications – Public Relations.  She was then hired by the Santa Ana Police Department as a Police Service Officer working the front desk, Community Police – Neighborhood Watch Program.  She then transferred to Property Crimes where she worked in the Pawn Shop Detail, Burglary, Fraud and Economic Crimes.  She was the promoted to Police Investigative Specialist.  She continued to work in Investigations until transferred to Court Liaison.   retired from San Ana PD after 19 years.  Janet is presently the CFO of the Jefferson County Sheriffs Foundation.
Caleb Summerfelt
Director/Webmaster
Caleb was raised in Kitsap County, after graduate school, he bought a house in Port Ludlow and has enjoyed joining several community organizations.

Caleb is currently the Chief Information Officer and Director of Acquisitions for a fabrication/engineering company that makes everything from specialized screws to entire industrial complexes. He holds BS in Architecture, a Master’s in Architecture, a Master’s Degree in Engineering Management Technology, and a PhD in Civil Engineering while holding Washington State University Certificates in Constraints Management, Project Management, Logistics and Supply Chain Management as well as being Jonah Certified, the latter being a process improvement/management concept and conflict resolution.

Ed Herner

  • Past resident of Clallam County and current resident of Jefferson County.
  • Prior to moving to Washington, a resident of Las Vegas, Nevada and before that a 30 resident of the State of Wisconsin.
  • Retired from a career as a General Manager of printing corporations in Nevada and Wisconsin.
  • Current volunteer for the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office since 2009.
  • Current Director of the Jefferson County Sheriffs Foundation since 2016
  • Current volunteer for local community service within Jefferson County since 2012
  • Married for 53 years, have one son, several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
  • It is a privilege to serve the people and communities of Jefferson County.
 Ken Przygocki

Ken was born in Detroit, Michigan, received an Associates Degree from Madonna University in Livonia Michigan, a Bachelors Degree from The Evergreen State College in Olympia Washington and a Master Degree in Business Administration from the American Intercontinental University in Chicago.  Ken has 38 years of experience in Law Enforcement as he served 12 years with the Detroit Police Department and retired as a Sergeant from the Washington State patrol after 26 years.  Ken is a member of the Port Townsend Kiwanis, C.O.R.P.S.E. (Congress of Retired Police, Sheriff’s ETC.), presently serves as a Commissioner on the Jefferson County Civil Service Board as well as a Director with the Jefferson County Sheriffs Foundation.  Ken has been married to his wife Karen of 38 years and has three sons, Nick a Journeyman in the Seattle Sprinkler Fitters Union, and two sons who followed in his footsteps into Law Enforcement, Chris a King County Sheriff’s Detective and Brandon, a Jefferson County Deputy.
Alex Mintz
Director
Alex Mintz, born in Germany, emigrated to the US at 6 years of age.  Lived in Atlanta, Georgia, moved to Los Angeles in 1954 then to Seattle in 1961.  Graduated from Roosevelt High in 1954.  Enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1966, served in Vietnam until 1968, discharged in 1969.  Received an AA Degree from Seattle Community college in Scientific and Technical Photography.  Worked in the restaurant industry in Seattle and then construction until 1995 became a Reserve Deputy Sheriff with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office in 1995 and became Jefferson County’s first Courthouse Security Deputy.  Moved to Animal control in 2005 until retirement in 2016.  Volunteer activities included Habitat for Humanity, Commissioner of the Jefferson County Housing Authority and Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Reserve Deputy Program.  Alex presently serves as a Director of the Jefferson County Sheriffs Foundation.
Mark Salopek
Director
Mark was born and raised in San Jose, A.   Received a BA in Theology.  Retired from Law Enforcement after twenty-two years.  Currently serving as armed protection to the U.S. Navy.  Mark is a member of C.O.R.P.S.E. and served on Promotional and Civil Service Boards in Jefferson County.  He is presently serving on the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Foundation as a Director.
